Fund Development Innovations promotes a donor centered approach to fundraising. Mark Walker believes that a charity will benefit in the end by helping donors reach their philanthropic dreams and goals.
Using the Philanthropic Quest approach helps us appreciate that this is not about an organization’s quest for dollars, but a donor’s quest to find meaning and personal fulfillment through philanthropy.
Because of this approach, we can focus on the relationship building process and using basic “moves management” techniques to track the progress of that relationship as it relates to a donor’s potential major or legacy gift. We also use and develop basic programs such as donor recognition and how to engage and involve donors in a meaningful way.
The Quest approach is especially effective in introducing the Board to a new vision and appreciation of philanthropy and helps define their role in promoting their organization’s fund raising efforts. The Quest process also helps identify new prospects who will meet future leadership needs.
